Soul Sundays: Middle Brother
Soul Sundays got a bit exotic there over the last few entries (Turkish music, really?). I thought it’d bring it home with a little contemporary alt-country rock. Here is a live clip of “Blue Eyes” from the first performance of the supergroup, Middle Brother. Supergroups don’t always turn out to be so “super” (see Audioslave), so I don’t recommend checking them out on that account alone. Rather, it’s worth noting they’re comprised of John J. McCauley III of Deer Tick (awesome), Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes (awesome), and Matt Vasquez of Delta Spirit (awesome). Perhaps the sum of indie rock band parts, works better than the sum of famous bands parts? The show is from Dec. 20, 2010 at the Troubadour — a great venue (and one of the 4 things I liked about LA). The album is out – just started working on it myself. Enjoy!
